| 10:1 | Now I, Paul, myself urge with you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you. |
| 10:2 | But I urge you that when I am present I may not be bold with that confidence by which I intend to be bold against some, who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. |
| 10:3 | Because, though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. |
| 10:4 | Because, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds, |
| 10:5 | casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, |
| 10:6 | and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. |
| 10:7 | Do you look at things according to the outward appearance? If anyone is convinced in himself that he is Christ's, let him again consider this in himself, that just as he is Christ's, even so we are Christ's. |
| 10:8 | Because, even if I should boast somewhat more about our authority, which the Lord gave us for edification and not for your destruction, I will not be ashamed, |
| 10:9 | lest I seem as if I would to terrify you by letters. |
| 10:10 | "Because, his letters," they say, "are weighty and powerful, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible." |
| 10:11 | Let such a person consider this, that what we are in word by letters when we are absent, such we will also be in deed when we are present. |
| 10:12 | Because, we dare not classify ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. |
| 10:13 | We, however, will not boast of things beyond our measure, but according to the measure of the influence which God has distributed to us, a measure to reach to you also. |
| 10:14 | Because, we do not stretch ourselves beyond our measure, as though we did not extend to you, because, we have come as far as to you also with the preaching of the gospel of Christ; |
| 10:15 | not boasting of things beyond our measure, that is, in other men's labors, but having hope, that as your faith is increased, that we will be enlarged abundantly by you according to our influence, |
| 10:16 | to preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's sphere of accomplishment. |
| 10:17 | But "he who glories, let him glory in the LORD." |
| 10:18 | Because, not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends. |
| 10:1 | Nowe I Paul my selfe beseech you by the meekenes, and gentlenes of Christ, which when I am present among you am base, but am bolde toward you being absent: |
| 10:2 | And this I require you, that I neede not to be bolde when I am present, with that same confidence, wherewith I thinke to bee bolde against some, which esteeme vs as though wee walked according to the flesh. |
| 10:3 | Neuerthelesse, though wee walke in the flesh, yet we doe not warre after the flesh. |
| 10:4 | (For the weapons of our warrefare are not carnall, but mightie through God, to cast downe holdes) |
| 10:5 | Casting downe the imaginations, and euery high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captiuitie euery thought to the obedience of Christ, |
| 10:6 | And hauing ready the vengeance against all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. |
| 10:7 | Looke yee on things after the appearance? If any man trust in himselfe that hee is Christes, let him consider this againe of himself, that as he is Christes, euen so are we Christes. |
| 10:8 | For though I shoulde boast somewhat more of our authoritie, which the Lord hath giuen vs for edification, and not for your destruction, I should haue no shame. |
| 10:9 | This I say, that I may not seeme as it were to feare you with letters. |
| 10:10 | For the letters, sayeth hee, are sore and strong, but his bodily presence is weake, and his speache is of no value. |
| 10:11 | Let such one thinke this, that such as wee are in woorde by letters, when we are absent, such wil we be also in deede, when we are present. |
| 10:12 | For wee dare not make our selues of the nomber, or to compare our selues to them, which praise themselues: but they vnderstand not that they measure themselues with themselues, and compare themselues with themselues. |
| 10:13 | But we wil not reioyce of things, which are not within our measure, but according to the measure of the line, whereof God hath distributed vnto vs a measure to attaine euen vnto you. |
| 10:14 | For we stretche not our selues beyonde our measure, as though wee had not attained vnto you: for euen to you also haue we come in preaching the Gospel of Christ, |
| 10:15 | Not boasting of things which are without our measure: that is, of other mens labours: and we hope, when your faith shall increase, to bee magnified by you according to our line aboundantly, |
| 10:16 | And to preache the Gospel in those regions which are beyonde you: not to reioyce in another mans line, that is, in the thinges that are prepared alreadie. |
| 10:17 | But let him that reioyceth, reioyce in the Lord. |
| 10:18 | For hee that praiseth himselfe, is not alowed, but he whome the Lord praiseth. |
| 10:1 | I Paule my silfe beseche you by the mekenes and softnes of Christ which when I am present amoge you am of no reputacio but am bolde towarde you beinge absent. |
| 10:2 | I besech you that I nede not to be bolde when I am present (with that same confidece wher with I am supposed to be bolde) agaynst some which repute vs as though we walked carnally. |
| 10:3 | Neverthelesse though we walke compased with ye fleshe yet we warre not flesshlye |
| 10:4 | For the weapes of oure warre are not carnall thinges but thynges myghty in god to cast doune stronge holdes |
| 10:5 | wherwith we overthrowe ymaginacyons and every hye thynge that exalteh it silfe agaynst the knowledge of god and brynge into captivite all vnderstondynge to the obedience of Christ |
| 10:6 | and are redy to take vengeaunce on all disobedience when youre obedience is fulfilled. |
| 10:7 | Loke ye on thynges after ye vtter apparence? Yf eny man trust in him silfe yt he is Christis let the same also considre of him silfe yt as he is Christis even so are we Christes. |
| 10:8 | And though I shuld bost my silfe somewhat moare of oure auctorite which the lorde hath geven vs to edifie and not to destroye you it shulde not be to my shame. |
| 10:9 | This saye I lest I shuld seme as though I went about to make you a frayde with letters. |
| 10:10 | For ye pistles (sayth he) are sore and stronge: but his bodyly presence is weake and his speache rude. |
| 10:11 | Let him yt is soche thynke on this wyse that as we are in wordes by letters when we are absent soche are we in dedes when we are present. |
| 10:12 | For we cannot fynde in oure hertes to make oure selves of ye nombre of them or to compare oure selves to them which laude the selves neuerthelesse whill they measure the selves wt them selves and copare the selves wt the selves they vnderstode nought. |
| 10:13 | But we wyll not reioyce above measure: but accordynge to the quantitie of ye measure which god hath distributed vnto vs a measure that reacheth even vnto you. |
| 10:14 | For we stretche uot out oure selves beyode measure as though we had not reached vnto you. For even vnto you have we come with the gospell of Christ |
| 10:15 | and we bost not oure selves out of measure in other mens labours. Ye and we hope when youre fayth is increased amoge you to be magnified acordynge to oure measure more largely |
| 10:16 | and to preache ye gospell in those regions which are beyode you: and not to reioyce of that which is by another mans measure prepared all redy. |
| 10:17 | Let him yt reioyseth reioyce in the lorde. |
| 10:18 | For he that prayseth him silfe is not alowed: but he whom the lorde prayseth. |
