Ephesians - Chapter: 5

>
5:1Be ye therefore followers of God, as deare children.
5:2And walke in loue, as Christ also hath loued vs, and hath giuen himselfe for vs, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling sauour;
5:3But fornication and all vncleannesse, or couetousnesse, let it not be once named amongst you, as becommeth Saints:
5:4Neither filthinesse, nor foolish talking, nor iesting, which are not conuenient: but rather giuing of thankes.
5:5For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor vncleane person, nor couetous man who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdome of Christ, and of God.
5:6Let no man deceiue you with vaine words: for because of these things commeth the wrath of God vpon the children of disobedience.
5:7Bee not yee therefore partakers with them.
5:8For yee were sometimes darkenesse, but now are yee light in the Lord: walke as children of light,
5:9(For the fruite of the spirit is in all goodnesse and righteousnesse & trueth.)
5:10Proouing what is acceptable vnto the Lord:
5:11And haue no fellowship with the vnfruitfull workes of darkenesse, but rather reproue them.
5:12For it is a shame euen to speake of those things which are done of them in secret.
5:13But all things that are reprooued, are made manifest by the light: for whatsoeuer doth make manifest, is light.
5:14Wherfore hee saith: Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall giue thee light.
5:15See then that yee walke circumspectly, not as fooles, but as wise,
5:16Redeming the time, because the dayes are euill.
5:17Wherefore be ye not vnwise, but vnderstanding what the will of the Lord is.
5:18And bee not drunke with wine, wherein is excesse: but bee filled with the Spirit:
5:19Speaking to your selues, in Psalmes, and Hymnes, and Spirituall songs, singing and making melodie in your heart to the Lord,
5:20Giuing thankes alwayes for all things vnto God, and the Father, in the Name of our Lord Iesus Christ,
5:21Submitting your selues one to another in the feare of God.
5:22Wiues, submit your selues vnto your own husbands, as vnto the Lord.
5:23For the husband is the head of the wife, euen as Christ is the head of the Church: and he is the sauiour of the body.
5:24Therefore as the Church is subiect vnto Christ, so let the wiues bee to their owne husbands in euery thing.
5:25Husbands, loue your wiues, euen as Christ also loued the Church, and gaue himselfe for it:
5:26That he might sanctifie & cleanse it with the washing of water, by the word,
5:27That hee might present it to himselfe a glorious Church, not hauing spot or wrinckle, or any such thing: but that it should bee holy and without blemish.
5:28So ought men to loue their wiues, as their owne bodies: hee that loueth his wife, loueth himselfe.
5:29For no man euer yet hated his owne flesh: but nourisheth and cherisheth it, euen as the Lord the Church:
5:30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
5:31For this cause shall a man leaue his father and mother, and shall be ioyned vnto his wife, and they two shalbe one flesh.
5:32This is a great mysterie: but I speake concerning Christ and the Church.
5:33Neuerthelesse, let euery one of you in particular, so loue his wife euen as himselfe, and the wife see that she reuerence her husband.

5:1Be ye the folowers therfore of God as deare children,
5:2and walke in loue, euen as Christ loued vs, and gaue him selfe for vs an offerynge and sacrifice of a swete sauoure vnto God.
5:3As for whordome and all vnclennes, or couetousnes, let it not be named amoge you, as it becommeth sayntes:
5:4nether fylthines, ner folish talkynge, ner ieastynge (which are not comly) but rather geuynge of thakes.
5:5For be sure, that no whore monger, or vncleane person, or couetous person (which is a worshipper off ymages) hath inheritaunce in the kyngdome of Christ and of God.
5:6(Let no man disceaue you with vayne wordes) for because of these commeth the wrath of God vpon the children of vnbeleue.
5:7Be not ye therfore companions with them.
5:8For sometyme ye were darknesse, but now are ye lighte in the LORDE. Walke as the children of lighte.
5:9(For the frute of the sprete is all maner of goodnes, and righteousnes and trueth:)
5:10and prone what is pleasinge vnto the LORDE,
5:11and haue no fellishippe with ye vnfrutefull workes of darknes, but rather rebuke the.
5:12For it is shame euen to name those thinges, which are done of them in secrete.
5:13But all thinges are manifest, whan they are rebuked of the lighte. For what so euer is manifest, that same is lighte.
5:14Therfore sayeth he: Awake thou that slepest, and stonde vp fro the deed, and Christ shal geue the lighte.
5:15Take hede therfore how ye walke circumspectly, not as the vnwyse, but as ye wyse,
5:16and redeme the tyme, for it is a miserable tyme.
5:17Wherfore be not ye vnwyse, but vnderstonde what the wil of the LORDE is,
5:18and be not dronken with wyne, wherin is excesse: but be full of the sprete
5:19and talke amoge youre selues of Psalmes, and ymnes, and spirituall songes, synginge and makynge melody vnto the LORDE in youre hertes
5:20geuynge thankes alwayes for all thinges vnto God the father, in the name of oure LORDE Iesus Christ,
5:21submyttinge youreselues one to another in the feare of God.
5:22Let the wemen submytte them selues vnto their hussbandes, as vnto the LORDE.
5:23For the hussbande is the wyues heade, eue as Christ also is the heade of the congregacion, and he is the Sauioure of his body.
5:24Therfore as the congregacion is in subieccion to Christ, likewyse let the wyues be in subieccion to their hussbandes in all thinges.
5:25Ye hussbandes loue youre wyues, euen as Christ loued the congregacion, and gaue himselfe for it,
5:26to sanctifye it, and clensed it in the fountayne of water by the worde,
5:27to make it vnto himselfe a glorious congregacion, hauynge no spot ner wrynkle, ner eny soch thinge, but that it shulde be holy and without blame.
5:28So oughte men also to loue their wyues, euen as their awne bodyes. He that loueth his wife, loueth himselfe.
5:29For no ma euer yet hated his awne flesshe, but norisheth and cherissheth it, euen as the LORDE doth also the congregacion.
5:30For we are membres of his body, of his flesh and of his bones.
5:31For this cause shal a man leaue father and mother, and cleue vnto his wife, and they two shal be one flesh:
5:32This is a greate secrete: but I speake of Christ and the congregacion.
5:33Neuertheles do ye so, that euery one of you loue his wife euen as himselfe: but let the wife feare hir hussbande.

5:1Therfor be ye foloweris of God, as moost dereworthe sones;
5:2and walke ye in loue, as Crist louyde vs, and yaf hym silf for vs an offryng and a sacrifice to God, in to the odour of swetnesse.
5:3And fornycacioun, and al vnclennesse, or aueryce, be not named among you, as it bicometh holi men;
5:4ethir filthe, or foli speche, or harlatrye, that perteyneth not to profit, but more doyng of thankyngis.
5:5For wite ye this, and vndurstonde, that ech letchour, or vnclene man, or coueytouse, that serueth to mawmetis, hath not eritage in the kingdom of Crist and of God.
5:6No man disseyue you bi veyn wordis; for whi for these thingis the wraththe of God cam on the sones of vnbileue.
5:7Therfor nyle ye be maad parteneris of hem.
5:8For ye weren sum tyme derknessis, but now `ye ben liyt in the Lord. Walke ye as the sones of liyt.
5:9For the fruyt of liyt is in al goodnesse, and riytwisnesse, and treuthe.
5:10And preue ye what `thing is wel plesynge to God.
5:11And nyle ye comyne to vnfruytouse werkis of derknessis; but more repreue ye.
5:12For what thingis ben don of hem in priuy, it is foule, yhe, to speke.
5:13And alle thingis that ben repreuyd of the liyt, ben opynli schewid; for al thing that is schewid, is liyt.
5:14For which thing he seith, Rise thou that slepist, and rise vp fro deth, and Crist schal liytne thee.
5:15Therfor, britheren, se ye, hou warli ye schulen go;
5:16not as vnwise men, but as wise men, ayenbiynge tyme, for the daies ben yuele.
5:17Therfor nyle ye be maad vnwise, but vndurstondynge which is the wille of God.
5:18And nyle ye be drunkun of wyn, in which is letcherie, but be ye fillid with the Hooli Goost; and speke ye to you silf in salmes,
5:19and ymnes, and spiritual songis, syngynge and seiynge salm in youre hertis to the Lord;
5:20euermore doynge thankingis for alle thingis in the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist to God and to the fadir.
5:21Be ye suget togidere in the drede of Crist.
5:22Wymmen, be thei suget to her hosebondis,
5:23as to the Lord, for the man is heed of the wymman, as Crist is heed of the chirche; he is sauyour of his bodi.
5:24But as the chirche is suget to Crist, so wymmen to her hosebondis in alle thingis.
5:25Men, loue ye youre wyues, as Crist louyde the chirche, and yaf hym silf for it, to make it holi;
5:26and clenside it with the waisching of watir, in the word of lijf,
5:27to yyue the chirche gloriouse to hym silf, that it hadde no wem, ne ryueling, or ony siche thing, but that it be hooli and vndefoulid.
5:28So and men `schulen loue her wyues, as her owne bodies. He that loueth his wijf, loueth hym silf;
5:29for no man hatide euere his owne fleisch, but nurischith and fostrith it, as Crist doith the chirche.
5:30And we ben membris of his bodi, of his fleisch, and of his boonys.
5:31For this thing a man schal forsake his fadir and modir, and he schal drawe to his wijf; and thei schulen be tweyne in o fleisch.
5:32This sacrament is greet; yhe, Y seie in Crist, and in the chirche.
5:33Netheles ye alle, ech man loue his wijf as hym silf; and the wijf drede hir hosebonde.
