Colossians - Chapter: 1


1:1	Paul an Apostle of Iesu Chryst by the wyll of God, and brother Timotheus.
1:2	To the saynctes which are at Colossa, and brethren that beleue in Chryst. Grace be vnto you and peace from God oure father, & from the Lorde Iesu Christ.
1:3	We geue thankes to God the father of oure Lorde Iesus Christ alwayes for you in oure prayers.
1:4	For we haue hearde of your fayth in Christ Iesu, and of the loue which ye beare to all saynctes,
1:5	for the hopes sake which is layd vp in store for you in heauen, of which hope, ye herde before by the true worde of the Gospell,
1:6	which is come vnto you: euen as it, is frutefull as it is also amonge you, from the daye in the which ye hearde of it, and had experience in the grace of God thorowe the trueth,
1:7	as ye learned of Epaphra oure deare felowe seruaunt, which is for you a faythfull minister of Chryst,
1:8	which also declared vnto vs youre loue which ye haue in the sprete.
1:9	For this cause we also, sence that daye we herde of it, haue not ceasyd to praye for you, and to desyre, that ye myght be fulfylled with the knowledge of hys wyll, in all wysdome and spretuall vnderstandynge,
1:10	that ye myght walke worthy of the Lorde that in all thinges ye maye please beynge frutefull in all good workes, and encreasynge in the knowledge of God,
1:11	strengthed with all myght, thorowe hys glorious power, vnto all pacience and longe sufferynge with ioyfulnes
1:12	geuynge thankes vnto the father, which hath made vs mete to be partakers of the inheritaunce of saynctes in lyght,
1:13	Which hath delyuered vs from the power of derknes, and hath translated vs into the kyngdome of hys dere sone
1:14	by whom we haue redempcion thorowe his bloude euen the forgeuenes of sinnes
1:15	which is the ymage of the inuisyble God, fyrst begotten of all creatures.
1:16	For by him were all thynges created, that are in heuen, and that are in erth: visyble and inuisyble, whether they be maieste or lorde shyppe, ether rule or power. All thynges were creatyd by hym and for hym,
1:17	& he is before all thynges, and by him all thynges haue theyr beynge.
1:18	And he is the heed of the body, euen of the congregacyon: he is the begynnynge and fyrst begotten of the deed, that in all thynges he myght haue the preeminence.
1:19	For it pleased the father, that in him shulde all fulnes dwell,
1:20	and by him to reconcyle all thinge vnto him selfe, and to set at peace by hym thorowe the bloude of hys crosse, both thynges in heauen and thinges in erth.
1:21	And you which were somtyme farre of and enemyes, because youre myndes were set in euyll worckes hath he nowe yet reconcyled
1:22	in the body of hys flesshe thorowe deeth, to make you holy, and vnblameable, & without faut in hys awne syght,
1:23	yf ye contynue grounded and stablysshed in the fayth, and be not moued awaye from the hope of the Gospell, wherof ye haue herde, howe that it is preached amonge all creatures which are vnder heauen, wherof I Paul am made a mynyster.
1:24	Nowe ioye I in my sufferinges for you and fulfyll that which is behynde of the passyons of Christ in my flesshe, for hys bodies sake, which is the congregacyon:
1:25	wherof I am made a mynister, accordynge to the ordinaunce of God, which ordinaunce was geuen me vnto you warde to fullfyll the worde of God,
1:26	that mistery which hath bene hyd sence the worlde beganne, and sence the begynnynge of generacyons: but nowe is opened to his saynctes,
1:27	to whom God wolde make knowen what the gloryous ryches of thys mystery is amonge the Gentyls, which ryches is Chryst in you, the hope of glory,
1:28	whom we preache, warnynge all men, and teachynge all men in all wysdome, to make all men parfecte in Christ Iesu.
1:29	Wherin I also laboure and stryue, euen as farforth as his strength worketh in me myghtely.


1:1	Poul, apostle of `Crist Jhesu, bi the wille of God,
1:2	and Tymothe, brother, to hem that ben at Colose, hooli and feithful britheren in Crist Jhesu,
1:3	grace and pees to you of God oure fadir and of the Lord Jhesu Crist. We don thankyngis to God, and to the fader of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, euermore preiynge for you, herynge youre feith in Crist Jhesu,
1:4	and the loue that ye han to alle hooli men,
1:5	for the hope that is kept to you in heuenes. Which ye herden in the word of treuthe of the gospel,
1:6	that cam to you, as also it is in al the world, and makith fruyt, and wexith, as in you, fro that dai in which ye herden and knewen the grace of God in treuthe.
1:7	As ye lerneden of Epafras, oure felawe most dereworthe, which is a trewe mynystre of Jhesu Crist for you;
1:8	which also schewide to vs youre louyng in spirit.
1:9	Therfor we fro the dai in which we herden, ceessen not to preye for you, and to axe, that ye be fillid with the knowing of his wille in al wisdom and goostli vndurstondyng;
1:10	that ye walke worthili to God plesynge bi alle thingis, and make fruyt in al good werk, and wexe in the science of God,
1:11	and ben coumfortid in al vertu bi the miyt of his clerenesse, in al pacience and long abiding with ioye,
1:12	that ye do thankyngis to God and to the fadir, which made you worthi in to the part of eritage of hooli men in liyt.
1:13	Which delyueride vs fro the power of derknessis, and translatide in to the kyngdom of the sone of his louyng,
1:14	in whom we han ayenbiyng and remyssioun of synnes.
1:15	Which is the ymage of God vnuysible, the first bigetun of ech creature.
1:16	For in hym alle thingis ben maad, in heuenes and in erthe, visible and vnuysible, ether trones, ether dominaciouns, ether princehodes, ethir poweris, alle thingis ben maad of nouyt bi hym, and in hym,
1:17	and he is bifor alle, and alle thingis ben in hym.
1:18	And he is heed of the bodi of the chirche; which is the bigynnyng and the firste bigetun of deede men, that he holde the firste dignyte in alle thingis.
1:19	For in hym it pleside al plente to inhabite,
1:20	and bi hym alle thingis to be recounselid in to hym, and made pees bi the blood of his cros, tho thingis that ben in erthis, ether that ben in heuenes.
1:21	And whanne ye weren sumtyme aliened, and enemyes bi wit in yuele werkis,
1:22	now he hath recounselid you in the bodi of his fleisch bi deth, to haue you hooli, and vnwemmyd, and with out repreef bifor hym.
1:23	If netheles ye dwellen in the feith, foundid, and stable, and vnmouable fro the hope of the gospel that ye han herd, which is prechid in al creature that is vndur heuene. Of which Y Poul am maad mynystre,
1:24	and now Y haue ioye in passioun for you, and Y fille tho thingis that failen of the passiouns of Crist in my fleisch, for his bodi, that is the chirche.
1:25	Of which Y Poul am maad mynystre bi the dispensacioun of God, that is youun to me in you,
1:26	that Y fille the word of God, the priuyte, that was hid fro worldis and generaciouns. But now it is schewid to his seyntis,
1:27	to whiche God wold make knowun the richessis of the glorie of this sacrament in hethene men, which is Crist in you, the hope of glorie.
1:28	Whom we schewen, repreuynge ech man, and techinge `ech man in al wisdom, that we offre ech man perfit in Crist Jhesu.
1:29	In which thing also Y trauele in stryuynge bi the worching of hym, that he worchith in me in vertu.

1:3	We geue thankes vnto God and the father of oure LORDE Iesus Christ, prayenge allwayes for you
1:4	(sence we herde of youre faith in Christ Iesu, and of youre loue to all sayntes)
1:5	for ye hopes sake which is layed vp in stoare for you in heauen: of the which ye haue herde before by the worde of trueth in the Gospell,
1:6	which is come vnto you, eue as it is into all the worlde: and is frutefull, as it is in you, sence ye daye yt ye herde and knewe the grace of God in ye trueth,
1:7	as ye learned of Epaphras oure deare felowe seruaunt, which is a faithfull mynister of Christ for you,
1:8	which also declared vnto vs youre loue in the sprete.
1:9	For this cause we also, sence the daye yt we herde of it, ceasse not to praye for you, & desyre that ye mighte be fulfylled with the knowlege of his will, in all wyssdome and spirituall vnderstondinge,
1:10	that ye mighte walke worthy off the LORDE, to please him in all thinges, and to be frutefull in all good workes, and growe in the knowlege of God:
1:11	& to be strengthed wt all power acordinge to the mighte of his glory, to all pacience and longsufferynge with ioyfulnes,
1:12	and geue thankes vnto the father, which hath made vs mete for the enheritaunce of sayntes in lighte.
1:13	Which hath delyuered vs fro the power of darknesse, & translated vs in to the kyngdome of his deare sonne
1:14	( in whom we haue redempcion thorow his bloude, namely, the forgeuenes of synnes.)
1:15	Which is the ymage of the inuisyble God, first begotte before all creatures.
1:16	For by him were all thinges created, that are in heauen and earth, thinges vysible and thinges inuysible, whether they be maiesties or lordshippes, ether rules or powers: All thinges are created by him and in him,
1:17	and he is before all thinges, and in him all thinges haue their beynge.
1:18	And he is the heade of the body, namely, of the cogregacion: he is the begynnynge and first begotten from the deed, that in all thinges he mighte haue the preemynence.
1:19	For it pleased the father, that in him shulde dwell all fulnesse,
1:20	and that by him all thinges shulde be reconciled vnto himselfe, whether they be thinges vpon earth or in heauen, that thorow the bloude on his crosse he mighte make peace euen thorow his owne selfe.
1:21	And you (which were in tymes past straungers and enemies, because youre myndes were set in euell workes) hath he now reconcyled
1:22	in the body of his flesh thorow death, to make you holy, and vnblameable & with out faute in his awne sighte,
1:23	yf ye contynue grounded and stablished in the faith, and be not moued awaye from ye hope of the Gospell, wherof ye haue herde: which is preached amonge all creatures yt are vnder heauen, wherof I Paul am made a mynister.
1:24	Now ioye I in my sufferynges, which I suffre for you, and fulfill that which is behynde of the passions of Christ in my flesh, for his bodyes sake, which is the congregacion,
1:25	wherof I am made a mynister, acordinge to ye Godly office of preachinge, which is geuen vnto me amonge you, that I shulde richely preach the worde of God,
1:26	namely, that mystery which hath bene hyd sence the worlde beganne, and sence the begynnynge of tymes: but now is opened vnto his sayntes,
1:27	to whom God wolde make knowne the glorious riches of this mistery amoge ye Heythen: which (riches) is Christ in you, eue he that is the hope of glory,
1:28	who we preach, and warne all men, and teach all men in all wyssdome, to make euery man parfecte in Christ Iesu:
1:29	Wherin I also laboure, and stryue acordinge to the workynge of him which worketh mightely in me.
