1 Timothy - Chapter: 4

>
4:1But the spirit seith opynli, that in the laste tymes summen schulen departe fro the feith, yyuynge tent to spiritis of errour, and to techingis of deuelis; that speken leesing in ipocrisie,
4:2and haue her conscience corrupt,
4:3forbedinge to be weddid, to absteyne fro metis, whiche God made to take with doyng of thankingis, to feithful men, and hem that han knowe the treuthe.
4:4For ech creature of God is good, and no thing is to be cast awei, which is takun with doyng of thankyngis;
4:5for it is halewid bi the word of God, and bi preyer.
4:6Thou puttynge forth these thingis to britheren, schalt be a good mynystre of Crist Jhesu; nurschid with wordis of feith and of good doctryne, which thou hast gete.
4:7But eschewe thou vncouenable fablis, and elde wymmenus fablis; haunte thi silf to pitee.
4:8For bodili exercitation is profitable to litle thing; but pitee is profitable to alle thingis, that hath a biheest of lijf that now is, and that is to come.
4:9A trewe word, and worthi al acceptacioun.
4:10And in this thing we trauelen, and ben cursid, for we hopen in lyuyng God, that is sauyour of alle men, moost of feithful men.
4:11Comaunde thou this thing, and teche.
4:12No man dispise thi yongthe, but be thou ensaumple of feithful men in word, in lyuyng, in charite, in feith, in chastite.
4:13Tyl Y come, take tent to redyng, to exortacioun and teching.
4:14Nyle thou litil charge the grace which is in thee, that is youun to thee bi profecie, with putting on of the hondis of preesthod.
4:15Thenke thou these thingis, in these be thou, that thi profiting be schewid to alle men.
4:16Take tent to thi silf and to doctryn; be bisi in hem. For thou doynge these thingis, schalt `make bothe thi silf saaf, and hem that heren thee.

4:1Now the Spirit speaketh euidently, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, and shall giue heede vnto spirits of errour, and doctrines of deuils,
4:2Which speake lies through hypocrisie, and haue their cosciences burned with an hote yron,
4:3Forbidding to marrie, and commanding to abstaine from meates which God hath created to be receiued with giuing thankes of them which beleeue and knowe the trueth.
4:4For euery creature of God is good, and nothing ought to be refused, if it be receiued with thankesgiuing.
4:5For it is sanctified by the worde of God, and prayer.
4:6If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Iesus Christ, which hast bene nourished vp in the wordes of faith, and of good doctrine, which thou hast continually followed.
4:7But cast away prophane, and olde wiues fables, and exercise thy selfe vnto godlinesse.
4:8For bodily exercise profiteth litle: but godlinesse is profitable vnto all things, which hath the promise of the life present, and of that that is to come.
4:9This is a true saying, and by all meanes worthie to be receiued.
4:10For therefore we labour and are rebuked, because we trust in the liuing God, which is the Sauiour of all men, specially of those that beleeue.
4:11These things warne and teache.
4:12Let no man despise thy youth, but be vnto them that beleeue, an ensample, in worde, in conuersation, in loue, in spirit, in faith, and in purenesse.
4:13Till I come, giue attendance to reading, to exhortation, and to doctrine.
4:14Despise not the gift that is in thee, which was giuen thee by prophecie with the laying on of the hands of the companie of the Eldership.
4:15These things exercise, and giue thy selfe vnto them, that it may be seene howe thou profitest among all men.
4:16Take heede vnto thy selfe, and vnto learning: continue therein: for in doing this thou shalt both saue thy selfe, and them that heare thee.

4:1Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,
4:2speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,
4:3forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
4:4Because, every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving;
4:5because it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
4:6If you put the brethren in remembrance of these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully pursued.
4:7But reject profane and old wives' fables, and instead exercise yourself toward godliness.
4:8Because, bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
4:9This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance.
4:10Because, to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.
4:11These things command and teach.
4:12Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
4:13Until I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
4:14Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.
4:15Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.
4:16Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, because in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
