1 Timothy - Chapter: 5

>
5:1Blame thou not an eldere man, but biseche as a fadir, yonge men as britheren; elde wymmen as modris,
5:2yonge wymmen as sistris, in al chastite.
5:3Honoure thou widewis, that ben very widewis.
5:4But if ony widewe hath children of sones, lerne sche first to gouerne her hous, and quyte to fadir and modir; for this thing is acceptid bifor God.
5:5And sche that is a widewe verili, and desolate, hope in to God, and be bisy in bisechingis and preieris niyt and dai.
5:6For sche that is lyuynge in delicis, is deed.
5:7And comaunde thou this thing, that thei be withouten repreef.
5:8For if ony man hath not cure of his owne, and most of hise household men, he hath denyed the feith, and is worse than an vnfeithful man.
5:9A widewe be chosun not lesse than sixti yeer, that was wijf of oon hosebonde,
5:10and hath witnessing in good werkis, if sche nurschede children, if sche resseyuede pore men to herbore, if sche hath waischun the feet of hooli men, if sche mynystride to men that suffriden tribulacioun, if sche folewide al good werk.
5:11But eschewe thou yongere widewis; for whanne thei han do letcherie, thei wolen be weddid in Crist,
5:12hauynge dampnacioun, for thei han maad voide the firste feith.
5:13Also thei idil lernen to go aboute housis, not oneli ydel, but ful of wordis and curiouse, spekynge thingis that bihoueth not.
5:14Therfor Y wole, that yongere widewis be weddid, and bringe forth children, and ben hosewyues, to yyue noon occasioun to the aduersarie, bi cause of cursid thing.
5:15For now summe ben turned abak aftir Sathanas.
5:16If ony feithful man hath widewis, mynystre he to hem, that the chirche be not greuyd, that it suffice to hem that ben very widewis.
5:17The prestis that ben wel gouernoures, be thei had worthi to double onour; moost thei that trauelen in word and teching.
5:18For scripture seith, Thou schalt not bridil the mouth of the oxe threischinge, and, A werk man is worthi his hire.
5:19Nyle thou resseyue accusyng ayens a preest, but vndur tweyne or thre witnessis.
5:20But reproue thou men that synnen bifor alle men, that also othere haue drede.
5:21Y preie bifor God, and Jhesu Crist, and hise chosun aungelis, that thou kepe these thingis with oute preiudice, and do no thing in bowynge `in to the othere side.
5:22Put thou hondis to no man, nether anoon comyne thou with othere mennus synnes. Kepe thi silf chast.
5:23Nyle thou yit drinke watir, but vse a litil wyn, for thi stomac, and `for thin ofte fallynge infirmytees.
5:24Sum mennus synnes ben opyn, bifor goynge to dom; but of summen thei comen aftir.
5:25And also goode dedis ben opyn, and tho that han hem in othere maner, moun not be hid.

5:1Rebuke not an Elder, but exhort him as a father, and the yonger men as brethren,
5:2The elder women as mothers, the yonger as sisters, with all purenesse.
5:3Honour widowes, which are widowes in deede.
5:4But if any widowe haue children or nephewes, let them learne first to shewe godlinesse towarde their owne house, and to recompense their kinred: for that is an honest thing and acceptable before God.
5:5And shee that is a widowe in deede and left alone, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and praiers night and day.
5:6But shee that liueth in pleasure, is dead, while shee liueth.
5:7These things therefore warne them of, that they may be blamelesse.
5:8If there bee any that prouideth not for his owne, and namely for them of his housholde, hee denieth the faith, and is worse then an infidell.
5:9Let not a widow be taken into the number vnder three score yeere olde, that hath beene the wife of one husband,
5:10And well reported of for good woorkes: if shee haue nourished her children, if shee haue lodged the strangers, if shee haue washed the Saintes feete, if shee haue ministred vnto them which were in aduersitie, if shee were continually giuen vnto euery good woorke.
5:11But refuse the yonger widowes: for when they haue begun to waxe wanton against Christ, they will marrie,
5:12Hauing damnation, because they haue broken the first faith.
5:13And likewise also being idle they learne to goe about from house to house: yea, they are not onely ydle, but also pratlers and busibodies, speaking things which are not comely.
5:14I will therefore that the yonger women marie, and beare children, and gouerne the house, and giue none occasion to the aduersary to speake euill.
5:15For certaine are alreadie turned backe after Satan.
5:16If any faithfull man, or faithfull woman haue widowes, let them minister vnto them, and let not the Church bee charged, that there may bee sufficient for them that are widowes in deede.
5:17The Elders that rule well, let them be had in double honour, specially they which labour in the worde and doctrine,
5:18For the Scripture sayeth, Thou shalt not mousell the mouth of the oxe that treadeth out the corne: and, The labourer is worthie of his wages.
5:19Against an Elder receiue none accusation, but vnder two or three witnesses.
5:20Them that sinne, rebuke openly, that the rest also may feare.
5:21I charge thee before God and the Lord Iesus Christ, and the elect Angels, that thou obserue these thinges without preferring one to an other, and doe nothing partially.
5:22Lay handes suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other mens sinnes: keepe thy selfe pure.
5:23Drinke no longer water, but vse a litle wine for thy stomakes sake, and thine often infirmities.
5:24Some mens sinnes are open before hand, and goe before vnto iudgement: but some mens folowe after.
5:25Likewise also the good woorkes are manifest before hande, and they that are otherwise, cannot be hid.

5:1Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brethren,
5:2older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with all purity.
5:3Honor widows who are truly widows.
5:4But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents; because, this is good and acceptable before God.
5:5Now she who is truly a widow, and desolate, trusts in God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day.
5:6But she who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.
5:7And these things give in commands, that they may be blameless.
5:8But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
5:9Do not let a widow under sixty years old be taken into the number, and not unless she has been the wife of one man,
5:10well reported for good works: if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.
5:11But refuse the younger widows; because, when they have, begun to grow immoral against Christ, they desire to marry,
5:12having damnation because they have cast off their first faith.
5:13And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
5:14Therefore I desire that the younger women marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
5:15Because, some have already turned aside after Satan.
5:16If any believing man or woman has widows, let them relieve them, and do not let the church be burdened, that it may relieve those who are truly widows.
5:17Let the older men who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.
5:18Because, the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain," and, "The laborer is worthy of his wages."
5:19Do not receive an accusation against an older man except from two or three witnesses.
5:20Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that others also may have reverence.
5:21I command you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with personal favoritism.
5:22Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor be a partaker in other people's sins; keep yourself pure.
5:23No longer drink only water, but use a little grape juice for your stomach's sake and your frequent weaknesses.
5:24Some men's sins are clearly evident, preceding them to judgment, but those of some men follow afterwards.
5:25Likewise also, the good works of some are clearly manifest beforehand, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.
