| 5:1 | Rebuke not an Elder, but intreate him as a father, and the yonger men as brethren: |
| 5:2 | The elder women as mothers, the yonger as sisters with all puritie. |
| 5:3 | Honour widowes that are widowes indeed. |
| 5:4 | But if any widow haue children or nephewes, let them learne first to shew pietie at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God. |
| 5:5 | Now she that is a widow in deed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day. |
| 5:6 | But she that liueth in pleasure, is dead while she liueth. |
| 5:7 | And these things giue in charge, that they may be blamelesse. |
| 5:8 | But if any prouide not for his owne, & specially for those of his owne house, hee hath denied the faith, and is worse then an infidel. |
| 5:9 | Let not a widow bee taken into the number, vnder threescore yeeres old, hauing bene the wife of one man, |
| 5:10 | Well reported of for good works, if shee haue brought vp children, if shee haue lodged strangers, if she haue washed the Saints feet, if shee haue releeued the afflicted, if shee haue diligently followed euery good worke. |
| 5:11 | But the yonger widowes refuse: for when they haue begunne to waxe wanton against Christ, they will marry, |
| 5:12 | Hauing damnation, because they haue cast off their first faith. |
| 5:13 | And withall they learne to bee idle, wandering about from house to house; and not onely idle, but tatlers also, and busibodies, speaking things which they ought not. |
| 5:14 | I will therefore that the yonger women marry, beare children, guid the house, giue none occasion to the aduersary to speake reprochfully. |
| 5:15 | For some are already turned aside after Satan. |
| 5:16 | If any man or woman that beleeueth haue widowes, let them relieue them, and let not the Church be charged, that it may relieue them that are widowes indeed. |
| 5:17 | Let the Elders that rule well, be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. |
| 5:18 | For the Scripture saith, Thou shalt not mousell the oxe that treadeth out the corne: and, The labourer is worthy of his reward. |
| 5:19 | Against an Elder receiue not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. |
| 5:20 | Them that sinne rebuke before all, that others also may feare. |
| 5:21 | I charge thee before God, and the Lord Iesus Christ, and the elect Angels, that thou obserue these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partialitie. |
| 5:22 | Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither bee partaker of other mens sinnes. Keepe thy selfe pure. |
| 5:23 | Drinke no longer water, but vse a little wine for thy stomackes sake, and thine often infirmities. |
| 5:24 | Some mens sinnes are open before hand, going before to iudgement: and some men they follow after. |
| 5:25 | Likewise also the good works of some are manifest before hand, and they that are otherwise, cannot be hid. |

| 5:2 | the elder wemen as mothers: the yonger as sisters with all purenes. |
| 5:3 | Honor wedowes, which are true wedowes. |
| 5:4 | Yf eny wedowe haue children or neves, let them lerne first to rule their awne houses godly, and to recompence their elders. For yt is good & acceptable before God. |
| 5:5 | But she that is a right wedowe, & desolate, putteth hir trust in God, & cotynueth in prayer and supplicacion nighte and daye. |
| 5:6 | But she that lyueth in pleasures, is deed, euen yet a lyue. |
| 5:7 | And these thinges commaunde, that they maye be without blame. |
| 5:8 | But yf there be eny man that prouydeth not for his awne, and specially for them of his houssholde, the same hath denyed the faith, and is worse then an infydele. |
| 5:9 | Let no wedowe be chosen vnder threscore yeare olde, and soch one as was ye wife of one man, |
| 5:10 | and well reported of in good workes, yf she haue brought vp children well, yf she haue bene harberous, yf she haue wasshed the sayntes fete, yf she haue mynistred vnto the which were in aduersite, yf she were continually geuen to all maner of good work |
| 5:11 | But ye yonger wedowes refuse. For whan they haue begonne to waxe wanton agaynst Christ, then wil they mary, |
| 5:12 | hauynge their damnacion, because they haue broke ye first faith. |
| 5:13 | Besydes this they are ydell, and lerne to runne aboute fro house to house. Not onely are they ydell, but also tryflinge & busybodies, speakynge thinges which are not comly. |
| 5:14 | I wil therfore that the yonger wemen mary, beare children, gyde the house, to geue ye aduersary no occasion to speake euell. |
| 5:15 | For some are turned back allready after Satha. |
| 5:16 | Yf eny man or woman that beleueth haue wedowes, let them make prouysion for the, and let not the congregacion be charged: that they which are righte wedowes, maye haue ynough. |
| 5:17 | The Elders that rule well, are worthy of double honoure, most specially they which laboure in the worde & in teachinge. |
| 5:18 | For ye scripture sayeth: Thou shalt not mosell the mouth of ye oxe yt treadeth out ye corne. And: The labourer is worthy of his rewarde. |
| 5:19 | Agaynst an Elder receaue none accusacion, but vnder two or thre witnesses. |
| 5:20 | The that synne, rebuke in the presence of all, that other also maye feare. |
| 5:21 | I testifye before God and the LORDE Iesus Christ, and ye electe angels, that thou obserue these thinges without haistie iudgment, and do nothinge parcially. |
| 5:22 | Laye hondes sodenly on no ma, nether be partaker of other mes synnes. Kepe yi selfe pure. |
| 5:23 | Drynke no lenger water, but vse a litle wyne for yi stomackes sake, and because thou art oft tymes sicke. |
| 5:24 | Some mes synnes are ope, so that they maye be iudged afore hande: but some mens (synnes) shal be manifest herafter. |
| 5:25 | Likewyse also good workes are manifest afore hade: and they that are otherwyse can not be hyd. |
| 5:1 | Blame thou not an eldere man, but biseche as a fadir, yonge men as britheren; elde wymmen as modris, |
| 5:2 | yonge wymmen as sistris, in al chastite. |
| 5:3 | Honoure thou widewis, that ben very widewis. |
| 5:4 | But if ony widewe hath children of sones, lerne sche first to gouerne her hous, and quyte to fadir and modir; for this thing is acceptid bifor God. |
| 5:5 | And sche that is a widewe verili, and desolate, hope in to God, and be bisy in bisechingis and preieris niyt and dai. |
| 5:6 | For sche that is lyuynge in delicis, is deed. |
| 5:7 | And comaunde thou this thing, that thei be withouten repreef. |
| 5:8 | For if ony man hath not cure of his owne, and most of hise household men, he hath denyed the feith, and is worse than an vnfeithful man. |
| 5:9 | A widewe be chosun not lesse than sixti yeer, that was wijf of oon hosebonde, |
| 5:10 | and hath witnessing in good werkis, if sche nurschede children, if sche resseyuede pore men to herbore, if sche hath waischun the feet of hooli men, if sche mynystride to men that suffriden tribulacioun, if sche folewide al good werk. |
| 5:11 | But eschewe thou yongere widewis; for whanne thei han do letcherie, thei wolen be weddid in Crist, |
| 5:12 | hauynge dampnacioun, for thei han maad voide the firste feith. |
| 5:13 | Also thei idil lernen to go aboute housis, not oneli ydel, but ful of wordis and curiouse, spekynge thingis that bihoueth not. |
| 5:14 | Therfor Y wole, that yongere widewis be weddid, and bringe forth children, and ben hosewyues, to yyue noon occasioun to the aduersarie, bi cause of cursid thing. |
| 5:15 | For now summe ben turned abak aftir Sathanas. |
| 5:16 | If ony feithful man hath widewis, mynystre he to hem, that the chirche be not greuyd, that it suffice to hem that ben very widewis. |
| 5:17 | The prestis that ben wel gouernoures, be thei had worthi to double onour; moost thei that trauelen in word and teching. |
| 5:18 | For scripture seith, Thou schalt not bridil the mouth of the oxe threischinge, and, A werk man is worthi his hire. |
| 5:19 | Nyle thou resseyue accusyng ayens a preest, but vndur tweyne or thre witnessis. |
| 5:20 | But reproue thou men that synnen bifor alle men, that also othere haue drede. |
| 5:21 | Y preie bifor God, and Jhesu Crist, and hise chosun aungelis, that thou kepe these thingis with oute preiudice, and do no thing in bowynge `in to the othere side. |
| 5:22 | Put thou hondis to no man, nether anoon comyne thou with othere mennus synnes. Kepe thi silf chast. |
| 5:23 | Nyle thou yit drinke watir, but vse a litil wyn, for thi stomac, and `for thin ofte fallynge infirmytees. |
| 5:24 | Sum mennus synnes ben opyn, bifor goynge to dom; but of summen thei comen aftir. |
| 5:25 | And also goode dedis ben opyn, and tho that han hem in othere maner, moun not be hid. |
