| 10:1 | And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for to Shechem were all Israel come to make him king. |
| 10:2 | And it came to passe when Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat (who was in Egypt, whither hee had fled from the presence of Solomon the king) heard it, that Ieroboam returned out of Egypt. |
| 10:3 | And they sent and called him. So Ieroboam and all Israel came, and spake to Rehoboam, saying, |
| 10:4 | Thy father made our yoke grieuous, nowe therefore ease thou somewhat the grieuous seruitude of thy father, and his heauy yoke that he put vpon vs, and we will serue thee. |
| 10:5 | And hee said vnto them, Come againe vnto me after three dayes. And the people departed. |
| 10:6 | And king Rehoboam tooke counsel with the old men that had stood before Solomon his father, while hee yet liued, saying, What counsell giue ye me, to returne answere to this people? |
| 10:7 | And they spake vnto him, saying, If thou bee kinde to this people, and please them, and speake good words to them, they will be thy seruants for euer. |
| 10:8 | But he forsooke the counsel which the old men gaue him, and tooke counsell with the yong men, that were brought vp with him, that stood before him. |
| 10:9 | And he said vnto them, What aduice giue ye, that wee may returne answere to this people, which haue spoken to me, saying, Ease somewhat the yoke that thy father did put vpon vs? |
| 10:10 | And the yong men that were brought vp with him, spake vnto him, saying, Thus shalt thou answere the people that spake vnto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heauy, but make thou it somewhat lighter for vs: thus shalt thou say vnto them, My litle finger shall be thicker then my fathers loynes. |
| 10:11 | For where as my father put a heauy yoke vpon you, I will put more to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions. |
| 10:12 | So Ieroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the King bade, saying, Come againe to me on the third day. |
| 10:13 | And the king answered them roughly, and king Rehoboam forsooke the counsell of the old men, |
| 10:14 | And answered them after the aduice of the yong men, saying, My father made your yoke heauy, but I will adde thereto: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions. |
| 10:15 | So the king hearkened not vnto the people, for the cause was of God, that the Lord might performe his word, which he spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat. |
| 10:16 | And when all Israel sawe that the king would not hearken vnto them, the people answered the king saying, What portion haue wee in Dauid? and wee haue none inheritance in the sonne of Iesse: Euery man to your tents, O Israel: and now Dauid, see to thine owne house. So all Israel went to their tents. |
| 10:17 | But as for the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Iudah, Rehoboam reigned ouer them. |
| 10:18 | Then king Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was ouer the tribute, and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died: but king Rehoboam made speed to get him vp to his charet, to flee to Ierusalem. |
| 10:19 | And Israel rebelled against the house of Dauid vnto this day. |

| 10:7 | And they spake vnto him, saying, If thou be kinde to this people, and please them, and speake louing words to them, they will be thy seruants for euer. |
| 10:8 | But hee left the counsel of the ancient men that they had giuen him, and tooke counsell of the yong men that were brought vp with him, and waited on him. |
| 10:9 | And he sayd vnto them, What counsel giue ye, that we may answere this people, which haue spoken to mee, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put vpon vs, lighter? |
| 10:10 | And the yong men that were brought vp with him, spake vnto him, saying, Thus shalt thou answere the people that spake to thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heauie, but make thou it lighter for vs: thus shalt thou say vnto them, My least part shalbe bigger then my fathers loines. |
| 10:11 | Now whereas my father did burden you with a grieuous yoke, I will yet increase your yoke: my father hath chastised you with roddes, but I will correct you with scourges. |
| 10:12 | Then Ieroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the King had appointed saying, Come againe to me the third day. |
| 10:13 | And the King answered them sharply: and King Rehoboam left the counsel of the ancient men, |
| 10:14 | And spake to them after ye counsell of the yong men, saying, My father made your yoke grieuous, but I wil incease it: my father chastised you with rods, but I will correct you with scourges. |
| 10:15 | So the king hearkened not vnto the people: for it was the ordinance of God that the Lord might performe his saying, which hee had spoken by Ahiiah the Shilonite to Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat. |
| 10:16 | So when all Isarael sawe that the King would not heare them, the people answered the King, saying, What portion haue we in Dauid? for we haue none inheritance in the sonue of Ishai. O Israel, euery man to your tents: now see to thine owne house, Dauid. So all Israel departed to their tents. |
| 10:17 | Howbeit Rehoboam reigned ouer the children of Israel, that dwelt in the cities of Iudah. |
| 10:18 | Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was ouer the tribute, and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died: then King Rehoboam made speede to get him vp to his charet, to flee to Ierusalem. |

| 10:5 | And he sayde to them come agayne vnto me after thre dayes. And the people departed. |
| 10:6 | And kynge Rehoboam counsayled wyth the elders that had stande before Salomon his father, whyle he yet lyued, and he sayde: what councell geue ye me, to answere thys people agayne? |
| 10:7 | And they tolde him, saying: If thou be kynde to thys people, and shewe thy selfe lowely to them, and speake louynge wordes to them, they wyll be thy seruauntes for euer. |
| 10:8 | But he left the councell whiche the elders gaue him, and toke councell wyth the youngemen, that were growen vp with hym and that stode in his presence. |
| 10:9 | And he sayde vnto them: what aduise geue ye, that we may answere thys people, which haue commoned wyth me, sayinge: Abate some what of the yocke, which thy father dyd put vpon vs. |
| 10:10 | And the yonge men that were growen vp wyth hym, spake vnto hym, sayinge: Thus shalt thou answere the people that spake to the, sayinge: Thy father made oure yocke heuye: but make thou it some what lyghter for vs. Thus shalt thou saye vnto them, my lytle fynger shalbe heuyer then my fathers, loynes. |
| 10:11 | For where my father put a heuye yocke vpon you, I wyll put more to your yock: my father chastysed you wt whyppes, but I wyll chastyce you with scorpions. |
| 10:12 | And so Ieroboam & all the people came to Rehoboam the thyrde daye, as the kynge badde, saying: come agayne to me the thyrd daye. |
| 10:13 | And the kynge answered them cruelly: and kyng Rehoboam left the councell of the aged men, |
| 10:14 | and answered them after the aduise of the yonge men, sayinge: My father made your yocke greuous, and I wyll adde therto: my father chastysed you with whyppes, but I wyll chastyce you with scorpions. |
| 10:15 | And so the kynge herkened not vnto the people: but the occasion came of God, that the Lord myght make good his saying, which he spake, by the hande of Ahia the Silonite, to Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat. |
| 10:16 | And when all they of Israel sawe that the kynge wolde not agree vnto them, the people answered the kynge sayinge: what parte haue we wt Dauid, or enheritaunce wt the sonne of Isai? let euery man of Israel go to his tent. And now Dauid, se to thyne awne house. And so all Israel gat them to their tentes, |
| 10:17 | so that Rehoboam raygned ouer no moo of the chyldren of Israel, then dwelt in the cyties of Iuda. |
| 10:18 | Then kynge Rehoboam also sente Haduram that was ruler ouer the tribute, and the chyldren of Israel stoned hym wt stones that he dyed. But kyng Rehoboam made spede to get him vp to his charret, to flye to Ierusalem. |
| 10:19 | And they of Israel rebelled agaynst the house of Dauid vnto thys daye. |
