| 28:1 | Ahaz was twentie yeeres olde when hee beganne to reigne, and he reigned sixteene yeres in Ierusalem: but hee did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord, like Dauid his father. |

| 28:3 | Moreouer, he burnt incense in the valley of the sonne of Hinnom, & burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen, whome the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel. |

| 28:7 | And Zichri a mightie man of Ephraim, slue Maaseiah the kings sonne, and Azrikam the gouernour of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the King. |
| 28:8 | And the children of Israel caried away captiue of their brethren, two hundred thousand, women, sonnes and daughters, and tooke also away much spoile from them, and brought the spoile to Samaria. |
| 28:9 | But a Prophet of the Lord was there, whose name was Oded: and hee went out before the hoste that came to Samaria, and said vnto them, Behold, because the Lord God of your fathers was wroth with Iudah, he hath deliuered them into your hand, and yee haue slaine them in a rage that reacheth vp vnto heauen. |
| 28:10 | And now ye purpose to keepe vnder the children of Iudah and Ierusalem for bondmen, and bondwomen vnto you: But are there not with you, euen with you, sinnes against the Lord your God? |
| 28:11 | Now heare me therefore, and deliuer the captiues againe, which ye haue taken captiue of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of God is vpon you. |
| 28:12 | Then certeine of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the sonne of Iohanan, Berechiah the sonne of Meshillemoth, and Iehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the sonne of Hadlai, stood vp against them that came from the warre, |
| 28:13 | And said vnto them, Ye shall not bring in the captiues hither: for whereas wee haue offended against the Lord already, ye intend to adde more to our sinnes and to our trespasse: for our trespasse is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel. |
| 28:14 | So the armed men left the captiues, and the spoile before the Princes, and all the congregation. |
| 28:15 | And the men which were expressed by name, rose vp and tooke the captiues, and with the spoile clothed all that were naked among them, and arayed them, and shod them, and gaue them to eate and to drinke, and anointed them, and caried all the feeble of them vpon asses, and brought them to Iericho, the city of palme-trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria. |
| 28:16 | At that time did king Ahaz send vnto the kings of Assyria to helpe him. |
| 28:17 | For againe the Edomites had come and smitten Iudah, and caried away captiues. |
| 28:18 | The Philistines also had inuaded the cities of the low-countrey, and of the South of Iudah, and had taken Beth-shemesh, and Aialon, and Gedetoth, and Shocho with the villages thereof, and Timnah with the villages thereof, Gimzo also, and the villages thereof: and they dwelt there. |
| 28:19 | For the Lord brought Iudah low, because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he made Iudah naked, and transgressed sore against the Lord. |
| 28:20 | And Tilgath-Pilneser king of Assyria came vnto him, and distressed him, but strengthened him not. |
| 28:21 | For Ahaz tooke away a portion out of the house of the Lord, and out of the house of the King, and of the Princes, and gaue it vnto the King of Assyria: but he helped him not. |
| 28:22 | And in the time of this distresse did hee trespasse yet more against the Lord: This is that king Ahaz. |
| 28:23 | For he sacrificed vnto the gods of Damascus, which smote him: and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria helpe them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may helpe me: but they were the ruine of him, and of all Israel. |
| 28:24 | And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut vp the doores of the house of the Lord, and hee made him altars in euery corner of Ierusalem. |
| 28:25 | And in euery seuerall city of Iudah hee made high places to burne incense vnto other gods, and prouoked to anger the Lord God of his fathers. |
| 28:26 | Now the rest of his acts, and of all his wayes, first and last, behold, they are written in the booke of the kings of Iudah and Israel. |
| 28:27 | And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the citie, euen in Ierusalem: but they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his sonne reigned in his stead. |

| 28:13 | And said vnto them, Bring not in the captiues hither: for this shalbe a sinne vpon vs against the Lord: ye entende to adde more to our sinnes and to our trespasse, though our trespasse be great, and the fierce wrath of God is against Israel. |
| 28:14 | So the armie left the captiues and the spoyle before the princes and all the Congregation. |
| 28:15 | And the men that were named by name, rose vp and tooke the prisoners, and with the spoyle clothed all that were naked among them, and arayed them, and shod them, and gaue them meate, and gaue them drinke, and anoynted them, and caryed all that were feeble of them vpon asses, and brought them to Iericho the citie of Palme trees to their brethren: so they returned to Samaria. |

| 28:5 | Wherfore the Lorde his God delyuered him into the hande of the kynge of the Siriens: which bet him, & caried awaye a great multitude of hys captiue, and brought them to Damascon. And he was delyuered into the hande of the kynge of Israel, which smote him with a greate slaughter. |
| 28:6 | For Pekah the sonne of Remaliahu slue in Iuda an hundred & twentye thousande in one daye, which were all fyghtinge men: and that because they had forsaken the Lorde God of theyr fathers. |

| 28:9 | But there was a prophete of the Lordes (whose name was Obed) and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, & sayde vnto them. Beholde, because the Lorde God of youre fathers is wroth wt Iuda, he hath delyuered them into youre hande. And ye haue slayne them with cruelnesse, that reacheth vp to heauen. |
| 28:10 | And nowe ye purpose to kepe vnder the chyldren of Iuda and Ierusalem, and to make them bondmen and bondwemen. And do ye not lade youre selues with synne in the syght of the Lorde youre God? |
| 28:11 | Nowe heare me therfore, and delyuer the captyues agayne which ye haue taken of youre brethren. for els shall the great wrath of God be vpon you. |
| 28:12 | Wherfore, certayne of the heedes of the chyldren of Ephraim, as Asaria the sonne of Iehohanan. Berechiahu the sonne of Mesillemoth, and Iehezkiahu the sonne of Sallum, and Amasa the sonne of Hadlai, stode vp agaynst them that came from the warre, |
| 28:13 | and sayde vnto them: bringe not in the captiues hyther. For where as we haue offended towarde God allreadye, ye entende to adde more to our synnes & trespace. For our trespace is great allready, and there is a fearce wrath agaynst Israel. |
| 28:14 | And vpon that, the men of armes lefte the captiues and the spoyle before the Lordes and all the congregacyon. |
| 28:15 | And the men that were nowe rehearsed by name, rose vp, and toke the prisoners, & with the spoyle clothed all that were naked amonge them, and arayed them, & shoed them, & gaue them to eate and to drinke, & anoynted them, and caryed all that were feble of them vpon asses, & brought them to Iericho (the cytie of Paulme trees) to theyr brethren: & then they returned to Samaria agayne. |
| 28:16 | At that same tyme dyd kyng Ahaz send vnto the kynges of Assur, to haue helpe of them. |
| 28:17 | And the Edomites came agayne, and slue some of Iuda, and caryed awaye captyues. |
| 28:18 | And the Philistines inuaded the cities in the lowe countrey, and towarde the south of Iuda: & toke Bethsames, & Aialon, and Gederoth, and Socho with the townes longynge therto, and Thimna with the townes of the same: Gimso, and the townes therof, and dwelt there. |
| 28:19 | For the Lord brought Iuda lowe, because of Ahaz kynge of Iuda, which made Iuda naked, & transgressed sore against the Lorde. |
| 28:20 | And Thilgath pilneser kynge of the Assyrians came vpon him, and troubled him rather then strengthed hym. |
| 28:21 | For Ahaz toke awaye a porcion out of the house of the Lorde, and out of the kynges house, & out of the Lordes houses, & gaue vnto the kynge of the Assyrians: and yet it helped him not. |
| 28:22 | And in the very tyme of hys tribulacion dyd kyng Ahaz trespace yet moare agaynst the Lord. |
| 28:23 | For he offered vnto the Gods of them of Damasco, which bette hym, & he sayd: because the Gods of the kynges of Syria healpe them, therfore wyll I offer to them, that they maye helpe me also. But they were his destruccyon, and the destruccion of all Israel. |
| 28:24 | And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and brake them, and shut vp the dores of the house of the Lord, and made him aulters in euery corner of Ierusalem. |
| 28:25 | And in all the cities of Iuda he made hyllaulters, to burne incense vnto other Gods, & angred the Lorde God of his fathers. |
| 28:26 | The rest of hys actes and hys workes fyrst and last: beholde, they are written in the boke of the kynges of Iuda & Israel. |
| 28:27 | And Ahaz slepte with hys fathers, & they buryed hym in the cytie of Ierusalem: but brought hym not vnto the sepulchres of the kynges of Israel. And Hezekia his sonne raygned in hys steade. |
