Psalms - Chapter: 51

>
51:1To the chaunter, a Psalme of Dauid, when the prophet Nathan came vnto him, after he was gone in to Bethsabe. Haue mercy vpon me (O God) after thy goodnes: accordyng vnto the multitude of thy mercyes, do awaye myne offences.
51:2Wash me thorowly fro my wickednesse, & clense me from my synne.
51:3For I knowledg my fautes, & my synne is euer before me.
51:4Agaynst the onely haue I synned, and done this euell in thy syght: that thou myghtest be iustifyed in thy sayinge, & cleare when thou art iudged.
51:5Beholde, I was shapen in wyckednesse, & in synne hath my mother conceaued me.
51:6But lo, thou requirest treuth in the inward partes, and shalt make me to vnderstonde wysdome secretly.
51:7Thou shalt pourge me with Isope, and I shall be cleane: thou shalt wash me, & I shalbe whyter then snowe:
51:8Thou shalt make me heare of ioye and gladnesse, that the bones whych thou hast broken, maye reioyse.
51:9Turne thy face from my synnes, & put out all my mysdedes.
51:10Make me a cleane hert (O God) and renue a ryght sprete wythin me.
51:11Cast me not awaye from thy presence, & take not thy holy sprete from me.
51:12O geue me the comforte of thy helpe agayne, & stablysh me wyth thy fre sprete.
51:13Then shall I teach thy wayes vnto the wicked, and synners shall be conuerted vnto the.
51:14Delyuer me from bloud gyltynesse (O God) thou that art the God of my health, and my tonge shall syng of thy ryghteousnesse.
51:15Thou shalt open my lyppes (O Lord) my mouth shal shewe thy prayse.
51:16For thou desyrest no sacrifyce, els wolde I geue it the: but thou delytest not in burntofferynge.
51:17The sacrifyce of God is a troubled sprete, a broken and a contrite hert (O God) shalt thou not despyse.
51:18O be fauorable & gracyous vnto Syon, buylde thou the walles of Ierusalem.
51:19Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifyce of ryghteousnesse, wyth the burntofferynges & oblacions: then shall they offre yonge bullockes vpon thyne aulter.

 

51:1The title of the oon and fiftithe salm. To victorie, the salm of Dauid,
51:2`whanne Doech Idumei cam, and telde to Saul, and seide to him, Dauid cam in to the hows of Abymelech.
51:3What hast thou glorie in malice; which art miyti in wickidnesse?
51:4Al dai thi tunge thouyte vnriytfulnesse; as a scharp rasour thou hast do gile.
51:5Thou louedist malice more than benygnite; `thou louedist wickidnesse more than to speke equite.
51:6Thou louedist alle wordis of casting doun; with a gileful tunge.
51:7Therfor God schal distrie thee in to the ende, he schal drawe thee out bi the roote, and he schal make thee to passe awei fro thi tabernacle; and thi roote fro the lond of lyuynge men.
51:8Iust men schulen se, and schulen drede; and thei schulen leiye on hym, and thei schulen seie, Lo!
51:9the man that settide not God his helpere. But he hopide in the multitude of his richessis; and hadde maistrie in his vanite.
51:10Forsothe Y, as a fruytful olyue tre in the hous of God; hopide in the merci of God with outen ende, and in to the world of world.
51:11Y schal knowleche to thee in to the world, for thou hast do mercy to me; and Y schal abide thi name, for it is good in the siyt of thi seyntis.

51:4Agaynst the only, agaynst the haue I synned, and done euell in thy sight: that thou mightest be iustified in thy saynges, and shuldest ouercome when thou art iudged.
51:5Beholde, I was borne in wickednesse, and in synne hath my mother conceaued me.
51:6But lo, thou hast a pleasure in the treuth, and hast shewed me secrete wy?dome.
51:7O reconcile me with Isope, and I shal be clene: wash thou me, and I shalbe whyter then snowe.
51:8Oh let me heare of ioye and gladnesse, that the bones which thou hast broken, maye reioyse.
51:9Turne thy face fro my synnes, and put out all my my?dedes.
51:10Make me a clene hert (o God) and renue a right sprete within me.
51:11Cast me not awaie from thy presence, and take not thy holy sprete fro me.
51:12O geue me the comforte of thy helpe agayne, and stablish me with thy fre sprete.
51:13Then shal I teach thy wayes vnto the wicked, that synners maye be conuerted vnto the.
51:14Delyuer me from bloudegyltynesse o God, thou that art the God of my health, that my tonge maye prayse thy rightuousnesse.
51:15Open my lippes (O LORDE) that my mouth maye shewe thy prayse.
51:16For yf thou haddest pleasure in sacrifice, I wolde geue it the: but thou delytest not in burntofferynges.
51:17The sacrifice of God is a troubled sprete, a broken and a cotrite hert (o God) shalt thou not despise.
51:18O be fauorable and gracious vnto Sion, that the walles of Ierusalem maye be buylded.
51:19For then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifice of rightuousnesse, with the burntofferynges and oblacions: then shal they laye bullockes vpon thine aulter.
