Psalms - Chapter: 56

56:1[To the chiefe musician vpon Ionath Elem Rechokim, Michtam of Dauid, when the Philistines tooke him in Gath.] Be mercifull vnto mee, O God, for man would swallow me vp: he fighting daily, oppresseth me.
56:2Mine enemies would dayly swallow me vp: for they bee many that fight against me, O thou most high.
56:3What time I am afraide, I will trust in thee.
56:4In God I will praise his worde, In God I haue put my trust, I will not feare what flesh can doe vnto me.
56:5Euery day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against mee for euill.
56:6They gather themselues together; they hide themselues, they marke my steps when they wait for my soule.
56:7Shall they escape by iniquitie? in thine anger cast downe the people, O God.
56:8Thou tellest my wanderings, put thou my teares into thy bottle: are they not in thy booke?
56:9When I crie vnto thee, then shall mine enemies turne backe: this I know, for God is for me.
56:10In God will I praise his word: in the Lord will I praise his word.
56:11In God haue I put my trust: I will not bee afraid what man can doe vnto me.
56:12Thy vowes are vpon me, O God: I will render praises vnto thee.
56:13For thou hast deliuered my soule from death: wilt not thou deliuer my feet from falling? that I may walke before God in the light of the liuing.

 

56:1To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David on Michtam, concerning the dumme doue in a farre countrey, when the Philistims tooke him in Gath. Be mercifull vnto me, O God, for man would swallow me vp: he fighteth continually and vexeth me.
56:2Mine enemies would dayly swallowe mee vp: for many fight against me, O thou most High.
56:3When I was afrayd, I trusted in thee.
56:4I will reioyce in God, because of his word, I trust in God, and will not feare what flesh can doe vnto me.
56:5Mine owne wordes grieue me dayly: all their thoughtes are against me to doe me hurt.
56:6They gather together, and keepe them selues close: they marke my steps, because they waite for my soule.
56:7They thinke they shall escape by iniquitie: O God, cast these people downe in thine anger.
56:8Thou hast counted my wandrings: put my teares into thy bottel: are they not in thy register?
56:9When I cry, then mine enemies shall turne backe: this I know, for God is with me.
56:10I will reioyce in God because of his worde: in the Lord wil I reioyce because of his worde.
56:11In God doe I trust: I will not be afrayd what man can doe vnto me.
56:12Thy vowes are vpon me, O God: I will render prayses vnto thee.
56:13For thou hast deliuered my soule from death, and also my feete from falling, that I may walke before God in the light of the liuing.

 

56:1To the chaunter vpon the doue of him that was domme in a farre countreye: the badg (or armes) of Dauid, when the Philistines toke hym in Geth. Be mercyfull vnto me (O God) for man goeth about to deuoure me: he is dayly fyghtynge and troublyng me.
56:2Myne enemyes are dayly in hande to swalowe me vp: for they be many that fyght agaynst me, o thou moost hyest.
56:3Neuerthelesse, though I am some tyme afrayed yet put I my trust in the.
56:4I wyll prayse God, because of hys worde, I haue put my trust in God, & wyll not feare, what flesh can do vnto me.
56:5They dayly mistake my wordes: all that they ymagyne is to do me euell.
56:6They holde all together, & kepe them selues close: & marcke my steppes, whan they laye wayte for my soule.
56:7Shall they escape for theyr wyckednes? thou (O God) in thy dyspleasure shalt cast them downe.
56:8Thou tellest my flyttynges, put my teares in thy botell: are not these thinges noted in thy booke?
56:9When soeuer I call vpon the, then shal myne enemies be put to flyght: thys I knowe, for God is on my syde.
56:10In Gods wordes wyll I reioyse, in the Lordes worde wyll I comforte me.
56:11Yee, in God haue I put my trust, I wyll not be afrayed what man can do vnto me.
56:12Unto the (O God) wyl I paye my vowes, vnto the wyll I geue thankes.
56:13For thou hast delyuered my soule from death, and my fete from falling, that I maye walke before God in the lyght of the lyuynge.
