Psalms - Chapter: 58

>
58:1To the chaunter Destroye not. The badge or armes of Dauid. Are your myndes sett vpon ryghteousnes, O ye congregacyon? and do ye iudge the thyng that is right O ye sonnes of men?
58:2Yee, ye ymagyn mischef in your hert vpon the earth, and youre handes deale with wyckednesse.
58:3The vngodly are frowarde, euen from their mothers wombe: as soone as they be borne, they go a straye and speake lyes.
58:4They are as venymous as the poyson of a serpent, euen lyke the deaf Ader that stoppeth her eares.
58:5Which refuseth to heare the voyce of the charmer, charme he neuer so wisely.
58:6Breake theyr teth (O God) in their mouthes, smyte the chawe bones of the lyons (O Lorde:)
58:7Let them fall awaye lyke water that runneth a pace: & when they shote theyr arowes, lett them be roted out.
58:8Let them consume awaye lyke a snayle, and be lyke the vntimely frute of a woman, and let them not se the sonne.
58:9Or euer your pottes be made whot with thornes: so let indygnacyon vexe hym, euen as a thynge that is rawe.
58:10The ryghteous shall reioyse when he seyth the vengeaunce: he shal wash hys fote stepes in the bloude of the vngodly.
58:11So that a man shall saye: verely there is a rewarde for the ryghteous: doutles, there is a God that iudgeth in the earth.

58:1The title of the eiyte and fiftithe salm. `In Jeroms translacioun thus, To the ouercomer, that thou lese not Dauid, meke and simple, `whanne Saul sente and kepte the hous, to slee hym. `In Ebreu thus, To the ouercomyng, leese thou not the semeli song of Dauid, and so forth.
58:2Mi God, delyuer thou me fro myn enemyes; and delyuer thou me fro hem that risen ayens me.
58:3Delyuer thou me fro hem that worchen wickidnesse; and saue thou me fro menquelleris.
58:4For lo! thei han take my soule; stronge men fellen in on me.
58:5Nethir my wickidnesse, nether my synne; Lord, Y ran with out wickidnesse, and dresside `my werkis.
58:6Rise vp thou in to my meetyng, and se; and thou, Lord God of vertues, art God of Israel. Yyue thou tent to visite alle folkis; do thou not merci to alle that worchen wickidnesse.
58:7Thei schulen be turned at euentid, and thei as doggis schulen suffre hungir; and thei schulen cumpas the citee.
58:8Lo! thei schulen speke in her mouth, and a swerd in her lippis; for who herde?
58:9And thou, Lord, schalt scorne hem; thou schalt bringe alle folkis to nouyt.
58:10I schal kepe my strengthe to thee;
58:11for God is myn vptaker, my God, his mercy schal come byfore me.

58:1Yf youre myndes be vpon rightuousnesse in dede, then iudge the thinge that is right, o ye sonnes of men.
58:2But ye ymagin myschefe in youre hertes, and youre hondes deale with wickednesse.
58:3The vngodly are frowarde, eue from their mothers wombe: as soone as they be borne, they go astraie & speake lyes.
58:4They are as furious as the serpent, euen like the deaf Adder that stoppeth hir eares.
58:5That she shulde not heare the voyce of the charmer, charme he neuer so wysely.
58:6Breake their teth (o God) in their mouthes, smyte the chaft bones of the lyons whelpes in sonder, o LORDE.
58:7That they maye fall awaye, like water yt runneth a pace: and that when they shote their arowes, they maye be broke.
58:8Let the cosume awaye like a snale, & like the vntymely frute of a woman, and let them not se the Sonne.
58:9Or euer youre thornes be sharpe, the wrath shal take them awaye quycke, like a stormy wynde.
58:10The rightuous shal reioyse when he seyth the vengeaunce, and shal wash his fete in the bloude of the vngodly.
58:11So that men shal saye: verely, there is a rewarde for ye rightuous: doutles, there is a God that iudgeth the earth.
