28:1	And when they were scaped, then they knewe, that: the yle was called Milete.
28:2	And the straungers shewed vs no lytell kyndnes: for they kyndled a fyre, and receaued vs euery one, because of the present rayne, & because of the colde.
28:3	And when Paul had gathered a bondell of styckes, and layde them on the fyre, ther came a vyper out of the heat, & caught hym by the hande.
28:4	When the straungers sawe the beast hange on hys hande, they sayde amonge them selues: no doute thys man is a mortherer: Whom (though he haue escaped the see) yet vengeaunce suffreth not to lyue.
28:5	And he shouke of the vyper into the fyre, and felt no harme.
28:6	Howbeit they wayted when he shulde haue swolne, or fallen downe deed sodenly. But after they had loked a greate whyle, and sawe no harme come to hym, they chaunged theyr myndes, and sayde that he was a God.
28:7	In the same quarters were londes of the chefe man of the yle (whose name was Publius) whych receaued vs, & lodged vs thre dayes courteously.
28:8	And it fortuned that the father of Publius laye sycke of a feuer, and of a bloudy flixe. To whom paul entred in and prayde, and layde hys handes on hym & healeth him.
28:9	So, when this was done, other also whych had dyseases in the yle, cam and were healed:
28:10	whych also dyd vs great honoure. And when we departed, they laded vs wt soch thynges as were necessary.
28:11	After thre monethes we departed in a ship of Alexandry, whych had wyntred in the yle, whose badge was Castor & Pollux.
28:12	And when we came to Cyracusa, we taryed there thre dayes.
28:13	And from thence we fet a compasse, and came to Regium. And after one daye the south wynde blewe, and we came the nexte daye to Putiolus:
28:14	where we founde brethren, and were desyred to tary wyth them seuen dayes, and so came we to Rome.
28:15	And from thence, when the brethren hearde of vs, they came to mete vs at Apiphorum, and at the thre tauernes. When Paul sawe them, he thancked God, and wexed bolde.
28:16	And when we came to Rome, the vndercaptayne delyuered the presoners to the chefe captayne of the host: but Paul was suffred to dwell by hym selfe wyth a soudyer that kept hym.
28:17	And after thre dayes, Paul called the chefe of the Iewes together. And when they were come, he sayde vnto them: Men and brethren, though, I haue committed nothing agaynst the people or lawes of the Elders yet was I delyuered presoner from Ierusalem into the handes of the Romayns.
28:18	Whych when they had examined me, wolde haue let me go, because ther was no cause of death in me.
28:19	But when the Iewes spake contrary, I was constrayned to appeale vnto cesar: not that I had ought to accuse my people of.
28:20	For thys cause then haue I called for you, euen to se you, and to speake wyth you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bounde wt this cheyne.
28:21	And they sayde vnto hym: we nether receaued lettres out of Iewry pertayninge vnto the nether eny of the brethren that came shewed or spake eny harme of the.
28:22	But we wyll heare of the what thou thynckest. For as concernyng thys secte, we knowe that euery where it is spoken agaynst.
28:23	And when they had appoynted him a daye, ther came many to hym into hys lodgyng. To whom he expounded and testifyed the kyngdom of God and preached vnto them of Iesus: both out of the lawe of Moses and out of the Prophetes, euen from morninge to nyght.
28:24	And some beleued the thynges whych were spoken, and some beleued not.
28:25	And when they agreed not amonge them selues, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one worde: well spake the holy ghost by Esay the prophet vnto oure fathers,
28:26	saying: Go vnto thys people, and saye: wyth youre eares shall ye heare, and shall not vnderstande: and wyth youre eyes shall ye se, & not perceaue.
28:27	For the hert of thys people is wexed grosse, and wyth their eares haue they had no lust to heare, and their eyes haue they closed: lest they shulde se wyth their eyes, & heare wyth their eares, and vnderstande with their hertes, and shuld be conuerted, and I shuld heale them.
28:28	Be it knowen therfore vnto you, that thys saluacyon of God is sent to the gentyls, and they shall heare it.
28:29	And when he had sayde these wordes, the Iewes departed from him and had greate despycions amonge them selues.
28:30	And Paul dwelt two yeares full in hys lodgynge, and receaued all that cam in vnto hym,
28:31	preachinge the kyngdome of God, and teachynge those thynges whych concerne the Lorde Iesus wyth all confydence, no man forbyddyng hym.


28:1	And whanne we hadden ascapid, thanne we knewen that the ile was clepid Militene. And the hethene men diden to vs not litil curtesie.
28:2	And whanne a fier was kyndelid, thei refreschiden vs alle, for the reyn that cam, and the coold.
28:3	But whanne Poul hadde gederid `a quantite of kittingis of vines, and leide on the fier, an edder sche cam forth fro the heete, and took hym bi the hoond.
28:4	And whanne the hethene men of the ile siyen the beest hangynge in his hoond, thei seiden togidir, For this man is a manquellere; and whanne he scapide fro the see, Goddis veniaunce suffrith hym not to lyue in erthe.
28:5	But he schoke awei the beest in to the fier, and hadde noon harm.
28:6	And thei gessiden that he schulde be turned `in to swellyng, and falle doun sudenli, and die. But whanne thei abiden longe, and sien that no thing of yuel was don in him, thei turneden hem togider, and seiden, that he was God.
28:7	And in tho placis weren maners of the prince of the ile, Puplius bi name, which resseyuede vs bi thre daies benygnli, and foond vs.
28:8	And it bifel, that the fader of Pupplius lai trauelid with fyueris and blodi flux. To whom Poul entride, and whanne he hadde preied, and leid his hondis on hym, he helide hym.
28:9	And whanne this thing was don, alle that in the ile hadden sijknesses, camen, and weren heelid.
28:10	Which also onouriden vs in many worschipis, and puttiden what thingis weren necessarie to vs, whanne we schippiden.
28:11	And after thre monethis we schippiden in a schip of Alisaundre, that hadde wyntrid in the ile, to which was an excellent singne of Castours.
28:12	And whanne we camen to Siracusan, we dwelliden there thre daies.
28:13	Fro thennus we seiliden aboute, and camen to Regyum; and aftir oo dai, while the south blew, in the secounde dai we camen to Puteolos.
28:14	Where whanne we founden britheren, we weren preied to dwelle there anentis hem seuene daies. And so we camen to Rome.
28:15	And fro thennus whanne britheren hadden herd, thei camen to vs to the cheping of Appius, and to the Thre tauernes.
28:16	And whanne Poul hadde seyn hem, he dide thankyngis to God, and took trist. And whanne `we camen to Rome, it was suffrid to Poul to dwelle bi hym silf, with a kniyt kepinge him.
28:17	And after the thridde dai, he clepide togidir the worthieste of the Jewis. And whanne thei camen, he seide to hem, Britheren, Y dide no thing ayens the puple ether custom of fadris, and Y was boundun at Jerusalem, and was bitakun in to the hondis of Romayns.
28:18	And whanne thei hadden axid of me, wolden haue delyuerid me, for that no cause of deth was in me.
28:19	But for Jewis ayenseiden, Y was constreyned to appele to the emperour; not as hauynge ony thing to accuse my puple.
28:20	Therfor for this cause Y preiede to se you, and speke to you; for for the hope of Israel Y am gird aboute with this chayne.
28:21	And thei seiden to hym, Nether we han resseyued lettris of thee fro Judee, nether ony of britheren comynge schewide, ether spak ony yuel thing of thee.
28:22	But we preyen to here of thee, what thingis thou felist; for of this sect it is knowun to vs, that euerywhere me ayenseith it.
28:23	And whanne thei hadden ordeined a dai to hym, many men camen to hym in to the in. To whiche he expownede, witnessinge the kyngdom `of God, and counseilide hem of Jhesu, of the lawe of Moyses, and profetis, for the morewe til to euentid.
28:24	And summe bileueden to these thingis that weren seid of Poul, summe bileueden not.
28:25	And whanne thei weren not consentinge togidir, thei departiden. And Poul seide o word, For the Hooli Goost spak wel bi Ysaye, the profete, to oure fadris,
28:26	and seide, Go thou to this puple, and seie to hem, With eere ye schulen here, and ye schulen not vndirstonde; and ye seynge schulen se, and ye schulen not biholde.
28:27	For the herte of this puple is greetli fattid, and with eeris thei herden heuyli, and thei closiden togider her iyen, lest perauenture thei se with iyen, and with eeris here, and bi herte vndurstonde, and be conuertid, and Y hele hem.
28:28	Therfor be it knowun to you, that this helthe of God is sent to hethen men, and thei schulen here.
28:29	And whanne he hadde seid these thingis, Jewis wenten out fro hym, and hadden myche questioun, ethir musyng, among hem silf.
28:30	And he dwellide ful twei yeer in his hirid place; and he resseyuede alle that entryden to hym,
28:31	and prechide the kingdom of God, and tauyte tho thingis that ben of the Lord Jhesu Crist, with al trist, with out forbedyng. Amen.

28:8	It fortuned wha Publius father laye sicke of the feuers and of a bloudy fluxe, Paul wente in vnto him, and prayed, and layed the handes on him, and healed him.
28:9	Whan this was done, other also which had diseases in the Ile, came, and were healed.

28:18	which wha they had examyned me, wolde haue let me go, for so moch as there was no cause of death i me.
28:19	But wha ye Iewes spake ye cotrary, I was costrayned to appeale vnto ye Emperor: not as though I had ought to accuse my people of.
28:20	For this cause haue I called you, eue to se you, & to speake wt you: because yt for ye hope of Israel, I am bounde wt this cheyne.
28:21	They sayde vnto hi: We haue nether receaued letter out of Iewry cocernynge the, nether came there eny of the brethre, yt shewed or spake eny harme of ye.
28:22	But we wyl heare of ye what thou thinkest: for we haue herde of this secte, that euery where it is spoken agaynst.
28:23	And wha they had appoynted hi a daye, there came many vnto hi in to his lodginge: vnto who he expouded ye kyngdome of God & preached vnto the of Iesu, out of ye lawe and out of the prophetes, eue fro mornynge vntyll the eue.
28:24	And some beleued ye thinge yt he sayde, but some beleued not.
28:25	But wha they agreed not amoge the selues, they departed, wha Paul had spoke one worde: Full well hath the holy goost spoke by ye prophet Esay vnto or fathers,
28:26	& sayde: Go vnto this people, and saye: With eares ye shal heare, & not vnderstode: & with eyes shal ye se, & not perceaue.
28:27	For ye hert of this people is waxed grosse, & they heare hardly wt their eares: & their eyes haue they closed, yt they shulde not once se wt their eyes, & heare wt their eares, & vnderstode i their hertes, and be couerted, yt I mighte heale the.
28:28	Be it knowne therfore vnto you, yt this saluacio of God is sent vnto ye Heythe, and they shal heare it.
28:29	And wha he sayde yt, ye Iewes departed, & had a greate disputacion amonge the selues.
28:30	But Paul abode two whole yeares in his owne hyred dwellinge, & receaued all the yt came in vnto hi,
28:31	preachinge ye kyngdome of God, and teachinge those thinges which concerne the LORDE Iesus with all boldnesse, vnforbydden.
