| 10:1 | I Paule my selfe beseche you by the mekenesse and softenes of Christe, whiche when I am present amonge you, am of no reputacion, but am bolde toward you beynge absent, |
| 10:2 | I beseche you, that I nede not to be bolde, when I am present (with that same confydence, wherewith I am supposed to be bolde) agaynste some whiche repute vs as though we walked carnally. |
| 10:3 | Neuerthelesse thoughe we walke compassed wt the fleshe, yet we ware not fleshly. |
| 10:4 | For the weapens of oure warre are not carnal thynges, but thynges myghtye in God to caste doune stronge holdes, |
| 10:5 | wherewith we ouerthrowe Imaginations and euerye hye thynge that exalteth it selfe agaynste the knoweledge of God, and brynge into captiuite all vnderstandynge to the obedience of Christe, |
| 10:6 | and are redye to take vengeaunce on all disobedience, when youre obedience is fulfylled. |
| 10:7 | Loke ye on thynges after the vtter apparence? Yf any man truste in hym selfe that he is Christes, let the same also consydre of him self that as he is Christes, euen so are we Christes |
| 10:8 | and thoughe I shoulde boste my selfe some what more of oure authoritie which the Lord hath geuen vs to edifye, and not to destroye you, it shoulde not be to my shame. |
| 10:9 | This say I, leste I shoulde seme, as thoughe I went about to make you afrayde with letters. |
| 10:10 | For the Epystles (sayeth he) are sore and stronge, but hys bodely presence is weake, and hys speach rude. |
| 10:11 | Let hym that is suche, thynke on thys wyse, that as we are in wordes by letters when we are absent, such are we in dedes when we are present. |
| 10:12 | For we can not fynde in oure hertes to make oure selues of the numbre of them, or to compare oure selues to them, whiche laud them selues, neuerthelesse while they measure them selues wyth them selues, and compare them selues with them selues, they vnderstande nought. |
| 10:13 | But we wyll not reioyce aboue measure: but accordynge to the quantitye of the measure, whiche God hath distrybuted vnto vs, a measure that reacheth euen vnto you. |
| 10:14 | For we stretche not oure selues beyonde measure, as thoughe we had not reacheth vnto you. For euen vnto you haue we come with the Gospell of Christe, |
| 10:15 | and we boste not oure selues out of measure in other mens labours. Yea, and we hope, when your fayth is increased amonge you, to be magnifyed accordynge to oure measure more largelye, |
| 10:16 | and to preache the Gospell in those regyons, whiche are beyonde you: and not to reioyce of that whiche is by another mans measure prepared already. |
| 10:17 | Let hym that reioyceth, reioyce in the Lord. |
| 10:18 | For he that prayseth hym self, is not allowed: but he whom the Lorde prayseth. |
| 10:1 | I Paul my selfe beseche you by the mekenesse & softenesse of Christ, which whan I am present amonge you, am of no reputacyon: but am bolde towarde you beynge absent. |
| 10:2 | I beseche you, that I nede not to be bolde whan I am presente, with that same boldnesse, wherewith I am supposed to haue bene bolde, agaynst some, which repute vs as though we walked carnally. |
| 10:3 | For though we walke in the flesshe, yet we do not warre flesshly. |
| 10:4 | For the weapens of oure warrefare are not carnall thynges, but thynges myghty in God, to cast downe stronge holdes, |
| 10:5 | wherewith we ouerthrowe councels and euery hye thynge that exalteth it selfe agaynst the knowledge of God, and brynge into captiuyte all ymaginacion to the obedience of Christ, |
| 10:6 | & are ready to take vengeaunce on all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfylled. |
| 10:7 | Loke ye on thinges after the vtter appearaunce? If any man trust in hym selfe, that he is Christes, lett hym consyder thys agayne of him selfe, that as he is Christes, euen so, are we Christes. |
| 10:8 | For though I boaste my selfe somwhat more of oure auctorite (which the Lorde hath geuen vs to edifye, and not to destroye you) it shall not be to my shame: |
| 10:9 | lest I shulde seme as though I wente aboute to make you afrayede with letters. |
| 10:10 | For the epistles (sayth he) are sore, and stronge: but hys bodelye presence is weake, and hys speache rude. |
| 10:11 | Lett hym that is soche thynke on thys wyse: that as we are in wordes by letters, when we are absent, soche are we in dedes, when we are present. |
| 10:12 | For we cannot fynde in our hertes to make oure selnes of the nomber of them, or to compare oure selues to them, which prayse them selues. Neuerthelesse, whyle they measure them selues wt them selues, and compare them selues with them selues, they vnderstande nought. |
| 10:13 | But we will not reioyce aboue measure: but accordynge to the measure of the rule, which God hath distributed vnto vs, a measure to reache euen vnto you. |
| 10:14 | For we stretch not out our selues beyonde measure, as though we reached nott vnto you. For euen to you also haue we come wt the gospell of Christ, |
| 10:15 | and we boast not our selues out of measure of other mennes labours: Yee, and we hope it wyll come to passe, that when your faith is increased amonge you, we shalbe magnifyed accordynge to oure measure, more largely, |
| 10:16 | and that I shall preache the Gospell in those regions which are beyonde you: & not to boast of those thynges, which by another mans measure are prepared allready. |
| 10:17 | But let him that reioyseth, reioyse in the Lorde. |
| 10:18 | For he that prayseth hym selfe, is not alowed but he whom the Lorde prayseth. |
| 10:1 | Nowe I Paul my selfe beseech you by the meekenes, and gentlenes of Christ, which when I am present among you am base, but am bolde toward you being absent: |
| 10:2 | And this I require you, that I neede not to be bolde when I am present, with that same confidence, wherewith I thinke to bee bolde against some, which esteeme vs as though wee walked according to the flesh. |
| 10:3 | Neuerthelesse, though wee walke in the flesh, yet we doe not warre after the flesh. |
| 10:4 | (For the weapons of our warrefare are not carnall, but mightie through God, to cast downe holdes) |
| 10:5 | Casting downe the imaginations, and euery high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captiuitie euery thought to the obedience of Christ, |
| 10:6 | And hauing ready the vengeance against all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. |
| 10:7 | Looke yee on things after the appearance? If any man trust in himselfe that hee is Christes, let him consider this againe of himself, that as he is Christes, euen so are we Christes. |
| 10:8 | For though I shoulde boast somewhat more of our authoritie, which the Lord hath giuen vs for edification, and not for your destruction, I should haue no shame. |
| 10:9 | This I say, that I may not seeme as it were to feare you with letters. |
| 10:10 | For the letters, sayeth hee, are sore and strong, but his bodily presence is weake, and his speache is of no value. |
| 10:11 | Let such one thinke this, that such as wee are in woorde by letters, when we are absent, such wil we be also in deede, when we are present. |
| 10:12 | For wee dare not make our selues of the nomber, or to compare our selues to them, which praise themselues: but they vnderstand not that they measure themselues with themselues, and compare themselues with themselues. |
| 10:13 | But we wil not reioyce of things, which are not within our measure, but according to the measure of the line, whereof God hath distributed vnto vs a measure to attaine euen vnto you. |
| 10:14 | For we stretche not our selues beyonde our measure, as though wee had not attained vnto you: for euen to you also haue we come in preaching the Gospel of Christ, |
| 10:15 | Not boasting of things which are without our measure: that is, of other mens labours: and we hope, when your faith shall increase, to bee magnified by you according to our line aboundantly, |
| 10:16 | And to preache the Gospel in those regions which are beyonde you: not to reioyce in another mans line, that is, in the thinges that are prepared alreadie. |
| 10:17 | But let him that reioyceth, reioyce in the Lord. |
| 10:18 | For hee that praiseth himselfe, is not alowed, but he whome the Lord praiseth. |
