2:1 | Therfor Y biseche first of alle thingis, that bisechingis, preieris, axyngis, doyngis of thankyngis, ben maad for alle men, |
2:2 | for kingis and alle that ben set in hiynesse, that we leden a quyet and a pesible lijf, in al pite and chastite. |
2:3 | For this thing is good and acceptid bifor God, |
2:4 | oure sauyour, that wole that alle men ben maad saaf, and that thei come to the knowyng of treuthe. |
2:5 | For o God and a mediatour is of God and of men, a man Crist Jhesus, |
2:6 | that yaf him silf redempcioun for alle men. Whos witnessing is confermyd in his tymes; |
2:7 | in which Y am set a prechour and an apostle. For Y seye treuthe, and Y lie not, that am a techere of hethene men in feith and in treuthe. |
2:8 | Therfor Y wole, that men preye in al place, liftinge vp clene hondis with outen wraththe and strijf. |
2:9 | Also wymmen in couenable abite, with schamefastnesse and sobrenesse araiynge hem silf, not in writhun heeris, ethir in gold, ethir peerlis, ethir preciouse cloth; but that that bicometh wymmen, |
2:10 | biheetinge pite bi good werkis. |
2:11 | A womman lerne in silence, with al subieccioun. |
2:12 | But Y suffre not a womman to teche, nether to haue lordschip on the hosebonde, but to be in silence. |
2:13 | For Adam was first formed, aftirward Eue; |
2:14 | and Adam was not disseyued, but the womman was disseyued, in breking of the lawe. |
2:15 | But sche schal be sauyd bi generacioun of children, if sche dwellith perfitli in feith, and loue, and hoolynesse, with sobrenesse. |
2:1 | I exhorte therfore that above all thynges prayers supplicacions intercessions and gevynge of thankes behad for all men: |
2:2 | for kynges and for all that are in auctorite that we maye live a quyet and a peasable life in all godlines and honestie. |
2:3 | For that is good and accepted in the sight of god oure savioure |
2:4 | which will have all men saved and to come vnto the knowledge of ye trueth. |
2:5 | For ther is one god and one (mediator) bitwene god and man which is ye man Christ Iesus |
2:6 | which gave him silfe a raunsome for all men that it shuld be testified at his tyme |
2:7 | wherevnto I am ordayned a preacher and an apostle: I tell the trueth in Christ and lye not beynge the teacher of the gentyls in fayth and veritie. |
2:8 | I wyll therfore that the men praye every where liftynge vp pure hondes without wrath or dowtinge. |
2:9 | Lykwyse also the wemen that they araye them selves in comlye aparell with shamfastnes and discrete behaveour not with broyded heare other golde or pearles or costly araye: |
2:10 | but with suche as becometh wemen that professe the worshippynge of God thorow good workes. |
2:11 | Let the woman learne in silence with all subieccion. |
2:12 | I suffre not a woman to teache nether to have auctoricie over a man: but forto be in silence. |
2:13 | For Adam was fyrst formed and then Eve. |
2:14 | Also Adam was not deceaved but the woman was deceaved and was in transgression. |
2:15 | Notwithstondynge thorow bearinge of chyldre they shalbe saved so they continue in fayth love and holynes with discrecion. |

2:8 | I wil therfore that men praye in all places, liftinge vp pure hades without wrath or dowtynge. |
2:9 | Likewyse also the wemen, that they araye them selues in comly apparell with shamfastnes and discrete behaueor, not with broyded heer, or golde, or perles, or costly araye: |
2:10 | but with soch as it becommeth weme that professe godlynes thorow good workes. |
2:11 | Let the woman lerne in sylece with all subieccion. |
2:12 | I suffre not a woma to teach ner to haue auctorite ouer the man, but for to be in sylence. |
2:13 | For Adam was first formed, and the Eue: |
2:14 | Adam also was not disceaued, but the woman was disceaued, and hath brought in the trasgression. |
2:15 | Notwitstondynge thorow bearynge of children she shalbe saued, yf she contynue in faith and in loue & in the sanctifyenge with discrecion. |
