4:1But the spirit seith opynli, that in the laste tymes summen schulen departe fro the feith, yyuynge tent to spiritis of errour, and to techingis of deuelis; that speken leesing in ipocrisie,
4:2and haue her conscience corrupt,
4:3forbedinge to be weddid, to absteyne fro metis, whiche God made to take with doyng of thankingis, to feithful men, and hem that han knowe the treuthe.
4:4For ech creature of God is good, and no thing is to be cast awei, which is takun with doyng of thankyngis;
4:5for it is halewid bi the word of God, and bi preyer.
4:6Thou puttynge forth these thingis to britheren, schalt be a good mynystre of Crist Jhesu; nurschid with wordis of feith and of good doctryne, which thou hast gete.
4:7But eschewe thou vncouenable fablis, and elde wymmenus fablis; haunte thi silf to pitee.
4:8For bodili exercitation is profitable to litle thing; but pitee is profitable to alle thingis, that hath a biheest of lijf that now is, and that is to come.
4:9A trewe word, and worthi al acceptacioun.
4:10And in this thing we trauelen, and ben cursid, for we hopen in lyuyng God, that is sauyour of alle men, moost of feithful men.
4:11Comaunde thou this thing, and teche.
4:12No man dispise thi yongthe, but be thou ensaumple of feithful men in word, in lyuyng, in charite, in feith, in chastite.
4:13Tyl Y come, take tent to redyng, to exortacioun and teching.
4:14Nyle thou litil charge the grace which is in thee, that is youun to thee bi profecie, with putting on of the hondis of preesthod.
4:15Thenke thou these thingis, in these be thou, that thi profiting be schewid to alle men.
4:16Take tent to thi silf and to doctryn; be bisi in hem. For thou doynge these thingis, schalt `make bothe thi silf saaf, and hem that heren thee.

 

4:1The sprete speaketh evydently that in the latter tymes some shall departe from the fayth and shall geve hede vnto spretes of erroure and dyvelysshe doctrine of them
4:2which speake falce thorow ypocrisye and have their consciences marked with an hote yron
4:3forbyddinge to mary and commaundinge to abstayne from meates which God hath created to be receaved with gevynge thankes of them which beleve and knowe ye trueth.
4:4For all the creatures of God are good and nothynge to be refused yf it be receaved with thankes gevynge.
4:5For it is sanctyfyed by the worde of God and prayer.
4:6Yf thou shalt put the brethren in remembraunce of these thynges thou shalt be a good minister of Iesu Christ which hast bene norisshed vp in the wordes of the fayth and good doctryne which doctryne thou hast continually followed.
4:7But cast awaye vngostly and olde wyves fables.Exercyse thy silfe vnto godlines.
4:8For bodely exercise proffiteth lyttll: But godlines is good vnto all thynges as a thynge which hath promyses of the lyfe that is now and of the lyfe to come.
4:9This is a sure sayinge and of all parties worthy to be receaved.
4:10For therfore we laboure and suffre rebuke because we beleve in the livynge god which is the savioure of all men: but specially of those that beleve.
4:11Suche thynges commaunde and teache.
4:12Let no man despyse thy youth: but be vnto them that beleve an insample in worde in conversacion in love in sprete in fayth and in purenes.
4:13Till I come geve attendaunce to redynge to exhortacion and to doctryne.
4:14Despyse not the gyfte that is in ye which was geven the thorow prophesye and with layinge on of ye hondes of an elder.
4:15These thynges exercyse and geve thy silfe vnto them that it maye be sene how thou profetest in all thinges.
4:16Take hede vnto thy silfe and vnto learnynge and continue therin. For if thou shalt so do thou shalt save thy silfe and them that heare the.

4:11Soch thinges commaunde thou and teach.
4:12Let no man despyse yi youth, but be thou vnto them that beleue, an ensample, in worde, in couersacion, in loue, in ye sprete, in faith, in purenesse.
4:13Geue attendaunce to readynge, to exhortacion, to doctryne, vntyll I come.
4:14Be not necligent in the gifte that is geuen the thorow prophecye, with layege on of the handes of the Elders.
4:15These thinges exercyse, and geue thy selfe vnto them, that thine increase maye be manifest vnto euery man.
4:16Take hede vnto thy selfe, and to learnynge, cotynue in these thinges. For yf thou so do, thou shalt saue thy selfe, and them that heare the.
